Potatoes 7.

Were back again with more potatoey goodness. The plants are now big enough to be sending them off to high school.

If they were humans they would definately be teenagers by now.

Big potato plants.
Teenagers.

The Kestrel plants on the right should reach maturity after 90 days. We should have some tasty potatoes to eat by then.

An interesting fact to try and make these increasingly samey posts relevent… According to the Alliance for Potato Research & Education on any given day at least 1 billion people will eat at least one potato.

These potatoes are now easily recogniseable for what they are.

Plants growing bigger.
Growth continues. they would be in school now if they were human.

Incidentally no-one asked what types of potatoes they are. I’ll tell you anyway. On the left we have Desiree and on the right we have Kestrel.

At this point we have to accept that one of the Kestrel seed potatoes failed.

Potatoes 4

You know you wanted to see them so here they are.

The plants are much bigger now than in the last image
Do we not like this….

A few days after potatoes 3 and they are much bigger.

Potatoes 3.

The third original post was a picture from 5 days later when the shoots had grown from barely recognisable spots of green into obvious potato plants. Enjoy.

The plants are now obvious.
Time passes, plants grow.

Coming soon. A few days later….

Potatoes 2.

Following on from the previous post, we catch up with our tubers after 2 weeks growing when they looked like this.

The patch of earth now has tiny green shoots of potato plants visible
And they are off…

It’s immediately obvious that there will need to be someĀ  loads of weeding to carry out on this patch in the coming months.

Potatoes.

Before we retired our old website we had a series of posts showing How our potatoes were growing.

Thses posts proved to be surprisingly popular with our fans, which may, or may not be true.

So… for those who would miss them, over the next few days we’ll post them again.

Here are the potatoes just after they were planted.

A bare patch of earth in which potatoes have just been planted.
Just planted.

Come back soon for more
